Audax Spring Training Series |
|
|
Are you an A19 or B SIG graduate or a solid and experienced pace line rider with great bike handling skills, longing to get a jump on the 2008 cycling season? If so, check out this year’s Audax STS (Spring Training Series). Audax is a style of riding that was developed in France in the 1920’s. It implies a disciplined style of riding with a set format and pace. Work with other experienced and disciplined NYCC riders to get into serious shape during 10 weeks of progressively longer and more challenging rides. The Audax STS will ride many new routes. All rides will be listed for Saturdays with Sunday rain out options. The Audax STS will start with 4 laps in Central Park at a safe pace. The pace and distance will increase weekly culminating in a 130-mile ride at an Audax pace on May 3, 2008. The series will have coordinators, but there will be a rotating pace line with all participants taking turns at the front. The rides will include opportunities for good times and good eating. Musts: Since this series is for Veteran Group riders, the published pace will be strictly enforced and anyone riding in an unsafe manner will not be allowed to participate. All participants must be NYCC members in good standing. Helmets and recently tuned up/overhauled bikes are mandatory. Saturday, March 1 will be the first Audax STS ride. We will meet at The Boathouse at 9:30 AM. For more information contact the coordinators Harvey Minsky or Robert Dinkelmann. Check future bulletins for further information about the Audax STS.
